Why is this friendly car dangerous to buyers?

Lagos, Nigeria, the commercial centre of Nigeria, has a high demand for cars. This keeps the E120 Corolla at a high value from one owner to another. Currently, the price of this car is ₦1,200,000 to ₦1,800,000  for foreign-used cars and ₦1,000,000 to ₦1,300,000 for domestic-used cars.

You may buy the sport and make it stand out a bit

The problem here is this: This car is heavily used on a daily basis, as many Lagosians use it for commercial purposes. This car is now finally being sold by its owner at a high price with no profit to the buyer.

Taxi drivers drive their Corolla on all the bad roads of Lagos, the engine running all day long. This is not a matter of good or bad care for the Corolla. A car that is on the road all the time has a shorter lifespan than a car driven by the average car owner.

Buying a heavily worn 2002 – 2006 car should cost a lot less than ₦1,000,000, but too many people want a Corolla, so the asking price is still high.

The value of the car depends on how much the seller uses it, but for 2002 – 2006 Corollas, it doesn’t matter just because of the high demand. Can you imagine a crash-repaired Toyota Corolla still costing well over ₦1,000,000.

Maintenance is quite expensive compared to the selling price

Imagine fixing this car and still selling it for over 1 million naira. Great for sellers, but terrible for buyers This is why you should be on the lookout when buying a used Toyota Corolla 2002–2006 model in Nigeria, especially if it is from Lagos. Not all car salesmen will honestly say that the car is being used for commercial purposes. Once you buy such a car, it will break down immediately.
