As Dangote Peugeot Assembly Rolls Out New Cars, here is what you should know

Following almost four years since Dangote obtained a license to begin producing and assembling cars in Nigeria, production finally began last week. Aliko Dangote is the richest man in Nigeria and Africa at large. He is also the founder and CEO of Dangote Group; one of Africa’s well-known and reputable conglomerates involved in the production of cement, flour, spaghetti, salt etc. The business tycoon has chosen to expand his business footprints by venturing into the automobile space. He has expressed interest in the former Peugeot Plant located in Northern Nigeria, now known as the Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited (DPAN).

The Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited is a joint venture owned by Alhaji Aliko Dangote via his Dangote Industries Conglomerate, the Kaduna and Kebbi stay Government as well as a technical partner (Stellantis Group, the parent company of Peugeot).

According to the management, the newly built Green Field Assembly Plant in Kaduna is able to assemble about 120 cars per day across two shifts. And they intend to expand and scale productions to produce at least 100,000 units per year. With these recent developments, it appears Nigeria is about to improve on its production of locally made cars.

The vehicles to be assembled at Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited are expected to be a great show of aesthetics, modern technological advancements, impeccable safety features as well as fitting for the Nigeria road. The company already began the relaunch of locally made Peugeot 301, and thereafter the release of

the Land Trek, 3008, 5008 and the new 508.
