The Chevy Traverse received a mid-cycle enhancement (MCE) – otherwise known as an update, refresh or facelift – for the 2022 model year. The refresh was delayed by a model year due to complications caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. The 2024 model will represent an all-new generation, though one that relies heavily on the structure of the outgoing second-gen model.

Chevy may be going big with EVs but they aren’t abandoning their gas lineup. Meet the 2024 Traverse, their big family SUV, coming in with a major overhaul and a new engine. Outside is a bold boxy design with a strong front facia, a bold c-pillar, and new trims. Here comes the Z71 trim made for off-road terrain. It gets a unique facia, aluminium skid plates, red tow hooks, 18in wheels with all-terrain rubber and more.
Under the hood the V6 is dead and replaced by a new 2.5L Turbo making 315HP and 317 lb-ft of torque, more than the old V6 too and more than the Telluride, Pilot, and Palisade. This is paired with an 8-speed gearbox and 5,000 lbs of towing.
The Z71 also comes with more ground clearance and a wider track. Under the skin, the Z71 gets an exclusive twi clutch AWD system and unique dampers, hill descent control and Evotex seats. The RS trim is the sportier offering with 22in wheels, black trim and a stiffer suspension. Inside, RS models get red accents, leather, and a flat bottom wheel. Inside all models is a massive 17.7in infotainment screen and 11in digital cluster. Buyers can opt for 7 or 8-passenger seating.

GM’s supercruise is also on offer and the car will likely start at around $36,000.
