Overview of the 2025 Toyota Camry
The 2025 Camry marks the start of its ninth generation, featuring a fresh design, updated interior, and new hybrid-only powertrains. While not the most thrilling option, the Camry Hybrid is loved for its affordability, space, and fuel efficiency. For the 2025 model, it ditches its old lineup and offers only two hybrid choices, with power reaching up to 232 horsepower and available in front- or all-wheel drive. Toyota might introduce a stronger plug-in-hybrid Camry Prime too. The trim options are simplified with only four available: LE, SE, XLE, and XSE, and each one offers all-wheel drive. The interior now has modern tech and styling inspired by the larger Crown sedan, but the Camry Hybrid remains focused on competing with rivals like the Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata in the mid-size segment.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The 2025 Camry Hybrid has two types of power systems: one for front-wheel drive and one for all-wheel drive. The front-wheel-drive version has a 2.5-litre engine and two electric motors, giving it 225 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive version adds a third motor for the rear wheels, boosting power to 232 horsepower. Both use a continuously variable automatic transmission. These setups are like those in the Toyota Prius but with a bigger engine. It is very responsive in city driving, but it’s not as fast as the old V-6 Camry.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The EPA hasn’t given an official fuel economy estimate for the 2025 Camry Hybrid, but Toyota expects it to get between 44 and 51 miles per gallon combined, depending on the model and powertrain setup.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The 2025 Toyota Camry has a roomy interior, with enough space for adults to sit comfortably in both the front and back seats. The dashboard stands out with a big trim piece that goes from the passenger’s side to the infotainment display. It comes with cloth seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and rear air vents as standard. The XLE and XSE models come with extra features like leather seats, heated seats and steering wheel, ambient lighting, special glass to reduce noise, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and adjustable rear-seat headrests.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The standard screen for the infotainment system is 8.0 inches, but you can get a bigger 12.3-inch screen as an option with the SE model or standard with the XLE and XSE models. Both screens run Toyota’s latest software, which we’ve found easy to use and fast. All models have a digital display for the gauges, but only the top two trims get the larger 12.3-inch fully digital version. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard on all trims and work wirelessly. If you want a better sound system, you can upgrade to a nine-speaker JBL stereo, but it’s only available on the XLE and XSE trims.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Every Camry Hybrid will include a set of safety features as standard, such as automatic emergency braking with detection for pedestrians and cyclists, automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, and a feature that helps the driver prepare for curves by gently applying the brakes. Additionally, key safety features include lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, as well as adaptive cruise control with a lane-centering feature.
Pros
-A powerful standard hybrid drivetrain
-Better tech than before
-An excellent standard safety suite
Cons
-A half-hearted redesign
-V-6 option discontinued
-No performance variants announced
Price of the 2025 Toyota Camry
The starting price for the 2025 Toyota Camry LE model will be between ₦33 million and ₦35 million. This is a bit higher than the base price of the 2024 Camry, but the new model comes with a hybrid powertrain as standard.
