Speaking on AriseTV, he stated:
“In terms of electric vehicles, we have a strategic approach. The chairman has concluded plans to set up an EV manufacturing plant in Nigeria because every major component of producing the electric car is in Nigeria.
“All the raw materials are in Nigeria. It doesn’t make sense to import battery and major components of electric car battery which is the most expensive product for EVs.
“We have started producing CNG vehicles. So, the Chairman has thought it wise to set up an EV manufacturing company in Nigeria so that we can be able to start producing the EV.”
Sometime in the middle of the year, Innoson Motors equally launched a new lineup of vehicles using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), according to the automaker, the idea behind launching this line of vehicles is to enable them gradually move away from Combustion Engine-powered vehicles, and embraced environmentally friendly vehicles.
Also, Innoson Motors believes that the introduction of CNG and LNG-powered vehicles will enable Nigerians to cushion the blow of the subsidy removal as CNG is cheaper than petrol.
