Vincent Enyeama was born in Kaduna, Nigeria on the 29th of August 1982 in a Christian family. He is a native of Urua Inyang in Akwa-Ibom state, Nigeria. His football career began in 1999 when he played for Ibom stars. In 2001, he moved to Enyimba FC and was there for three years having played in 100 games, one which the team won the Confederation of African Football league, twice.

After spending three seasons at Enyimba International FC and a season in Heartland FC, he decided it was time to go International. In 2005, he moved to Israel and joined Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv. While at Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv, the club qualified for the 2006 UEFA cup. In 2007, he joined Hapoel Tel Aviv, but the club had a bad season which was saved by Enyeama when he helped the club to reach the state cup finals. In 2008 and 2009 while still at Hapoel Tel Aviv, Vincent Enyeama won the ‘player of the year’ award; he became his team’s penalty kicker; scored against Red Bull Salzburg in August 2010; won the Israeli cup and many more international tournaments.
After 4 years at Hapoel Tel Aviv, he moved to a French team, Lille, for an undisclosed transfer fee on a 3-year long contract. He made his first debut with the team in October 2011 at a game against Inter Milan at the 2012 UEFA Champions’ League group stage. In August 2012, he signed a 1-year loan deal to Maccabi Tel Aviv and he was instrumental in helping the team win the Israeli Premier League.
Apart from his international career, he was a member of the Nigerian national team from 2002 to 2015, where he served as the captain of the team from 2013 until international retirement in 2015 after a misunderstanding with Sunday Oliseh. While playing as a footballer at Heartland FC, he was involved in a ghastly motor accident that claimed the lives of two persons, but he came out of the accident scene with minor injuries.

He is married to his wife, Promise Enyeama and the duo tied the knots in June 2006. He is also the father of three children. Vincent Enyeama is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers to ever emerge from Africa and is the most capped Nigerian footballer history has produced with 101 caps under his name. Although he retired internationally in October 2015, he returned to football in October 2017.
Upon returning to the profession in 2017, he has been working independently up until June 2020, when he got an offer from France, to become a Goalkeeper coach in Iris club de Croix. He is to be responsible for the reserve team and the Under 16’s.
