Kia has unveiled the Tasman, their boldly styled new midsize pickup truck, which is set to debut next year in Africa. Inside, the design is more refined, featuring dual 12.3-inch screens, a climate control display, and additional amenities. Notable interior highlights include a folding table and under-seat storage.
The all-new Tasman features a body-on-frame chassis and will be available with two engine options at launch. These include a 2.5L Turbo 4 engine producing 277 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.2L Turbo diesel engine generating 207 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Both engines can be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission for the diesel variant. The Tasman offers both 4WD and RWD configurations. It can carry a payload of up to 2,635 lbs and tow up to 7,716 lbs.
In terms of design, the Tasman features a boxy silhouette with vertical LED lights, thick bumpers, and a variety of customization accessories. It comes standard with a double cab configuration, and there are chassis cab options available as well. The vehicle boasts up to 9.9 inches of ground clearance.
