We particularly like the high-performance model with the V-8 engine, but most buyers will prefer the six-cylinder version, which is more enjoyable to drive than the base model. Similar to the base car, the six-cylinder version is available with all-wheel drive instead of just rear-wheel drive. We’d recommend upgrading from the F Sport Design to the full-on F Sport and adding the F Sport Handling Package to get the Adaptive Variable Suspension and the Torsen limited-slip rear differential.
The 2024 IS comes with three engine options: a 241-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the base model, a 311-hp V-6 in the six-cylinder version, and a 472-hp V-8 in the high-performance model. The base and six-cylinder versions can be equipped with all-wheel drive, while the high-performance model is rear-wheel drive only. We’d suggest skipping the four-cylinder base model, as its engine doesn’t have the performance to match the car’s sporty chassis and refined, upscale personality. Opting for the V-6 allows the IS to really shine.
