Mercedes has released a new model and powertrain, the GLE53 Plug-in Hybrid, which was a surprise announcement. It will be available in Nigeria by 2025 and will be offered in both coupe and SUV forms. The new model is based on the existing GLE 53 but with the addition of an electric motor.
This GLE53 PHEV pairs a 3.0L inline-6 with a 134HP electric motor to make a combined 536HP and 553 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. 0-60 happens around 4.6seconds with a 155MPH TopSpeed. That eMotor is powered by a 31.2kWh battery pack. The normal GLE 53 only makes 429HP and 413 lb-ft of torque.
Mercedes asserts that the exterior is distinct, but it may be difficult to spot any variations. The interior features novel hybrid displays in the infotainment system that show charging status and range. Additionally, it has a revised AMG Ride Control +due to account for the increased weight, as well as new rear dampers, stabilizer bars, and refined chassis controls.
