Saglev, an American Electric vehicles manufacturer, is set to boost the adoption of electric vehicles in Nigeria by starting the assembly of electric vehicles at its 5000 SQM Assembly Plant located in Ikorodu, Lagos. The promoter has announced that the plant will begin production in December 2023. It has an installed capacity to assemble 2,500 electric vehicles annually on one shift to provide an excellent alternative to petrol engine cars due to the high cost of fuel.

Faleye also assured that the device requires infrequent charging, typically only needing one or two sessions per week. A full charge can be achieved in approximately four hours using a level two charger, which can be conveniently managed during downtime or overnight.
Highlighting the economic advantages of electric vehicles, Faleye underscored the considerable savings in operational costs.
In addition, Faleye emphasized the substantially reduced maintenance costs of EVs, boasting a 50% reduction compared to traditional vehicles. Saglev’s forward-thinking strategy involves establishing charging stations at each Ardova and Enyo Petrol Station across the country, ensuring easy access for electric vehicle (EV) users.
