Toyota is getting ready for its next generation of electric vehicles, including batteries that will last for over 900+ mile range.
Some of the new technology Toyota plans to introduce to their EV lineup in the near future includes solid-state batteries for electric vehicles with ranges of 900 miles+, software operating systems that update automatically, futuristic factories where cars drive themselves through final assembly, and ultra-slick aerodynamics developed through rocket science.
Toyota included all of these and more in their “2026 EV Strategy.” Top executives at Toyota acknowledging the changes coming in their lineup noted: “Let’s change the future of cars.” The executives also noted that Toyota has both the technology and the production system needed to deliver industry-leading EVs by 2026.

Top among the technologies Toyota will be introducing is a wave of advanced batteries. Talking about this, Toyota’s Chief Technology Officer, Hiroki Nakajima, noted: “We are determined to be the world leader in batteries. We will need various options for batteries, just like we have different variations of engines. It is important to make these batteries compatible with any kind of model.”
Next up being introduced by Toyota is a bipolar lithium iron phosphate battery that arrives between 2026 and 2027. The Bipolar batteries boost power density by combining anode and cathode terminals into the same current collector. Anodes and cathodes normally have their collectors.
With these technologies that Toyota will be introducing in 2026, it’ll represent the automaker’s next-generation EVs as the vehicles will have new batteries, platforms, software systems, and production methods, comprising what Toyota CEO Koji Sato calls “Toyota’s EV rollout plan.”
