Maybach as a brand was founded in 1909 by Wilhelm Maybach. The company was brought back to life in the early 2000s with the release of two models based on the S Class, the 57 and the 62. The brand fell out of favour, and in the 2010s production was cut.

As is the case today, Maybach was relaunched as a Mercedes-Benz sub-brand named Maybach-Mercedes. The Maybach GLS 600 is an important diversification within the range, given the insatiable current demand for luxury SUVs.
The 2022 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 takes SUV luxury to massive heights and comes with nearly every available feature offered on the run-of-the-mill GLS models. The Maybach GLS 600 is also visually distinguished by its exterior featuring its own front grille design, along with copious amounts of metal mesh worked into the front of this imposing SUV.
Here are some of the car’s coolest features.

Champagne Cooler
If the current batch of Mercedes-Benz SUVs isn’t luxurious enough for you, the brand will point you in the direction of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600.
Of course, to enjoy the bubbles at their best, a champagne flute is required. Fortunately, Mercedes have catered for this by including a designated holder and silver-plated champagne flutes.
Raising the luxury stakes is an integrated champagne cooler. Large enough to accommodate around 3 bottles, the cooler is a welcome addition for those in the rear.
Private Jet Style Rear Seating
The GLS is an all-wheel drive 4 door with 5 seats, powered by a 4.0L BI TURBO V8 engine that has 410 kW of power (at 6000 rpm) and 730 Nm of torque (at 2500 rpm) via a Nine-speed Automatic G-Tronic. It has a 90L fuel tank.
As standard, the car is fitted out with a bench seat. However, opt for the optional upgraded individual luxury rear seats, and you will be treated to a private jet-style experience. The front seats can be moved forward at the touch of a button, providing increased legroom in the rear. The rear seat also reclines to increase comfort, and a calf rest even extends as this takes place.
Exterior design
If you’re in the market for a high-dollar luxury SUV, you’re hardly going to listen to the likes of us when deciding which options to order. Plus, Mercedes-Maybach is making most things standard, including a semi-autonomous driving mode, Nappa leather upholstery, and handsome interior and exterior trimmings. On the exterior, there is an option for a two-tone exterior or the normal one-colour exterior. Its overall length is measured at 204.9 inches with an overall height of 72.4 inches. With these large dimensions, occupants will enjoy a spacious interior with enough legroom.
We’d suggest perusing the numerous personalization options, though, to really make the GLS600 your own.
Temperature Adjustable Cup Holders
For those fancying another refreshment, there are cupholders located in the rear centre console. The party piece of these is that they can be heated and cooled.
Let’s face it, those purchasing this car expect the best, they certainly won’t compromise. These cupholders ensure their drinks are kept at the perfect temperature.
Mild Hybrid Energy Harvesting
Bumpy roads are not too much of an issue in this car; in fact, they are even of benefit. The car is able to harvest energy from the car’s suspension, as the wheels oscillate up and down over an uneven surface, energy is recovered and fed back into the mild hybrid system.
Attached to the mild hybrid system is a twin-turbocharged 4.0 litre V8. The engine produces 558 hp, with an additional 22 hp generated by the electric motor. 0-60 mph takes 4.9 seconds, and the car can go on to a limited top speed of 155 mph.
“Bouncing” Mode
Although Mercedes V-8s are not an option in the near term, the turbo inline-six mild hybrid powertrain in the GLS450 is nothing to sneeze at.
In Supercar Blondie‘s video, the Maybach GLS 600 bounced up and down like a low rider. However, this bouncing action isn’t just for show. Such a movement called recovery action is part of the Off-Road drive program of the E-Active Body Control, and it helps liberate the GLS 600 when it gets stuck in the sand. Moreover, when equipped with the available E-Active Body Control suspension, the big SUV handles beautifully, staying flat through turns. E-ABC also brings Free Driving mode (aka, “Bouncing” mode) to help extract the ute out of deep mud and snow when it gets stuck.

2022 Mercedes Benz Gls600 Maybach Rivals
Just like the GLS, the BMW X7 is a very good option in the luxury large SUV class. Both of these German SUVs are very similar in a considerable amount of approaches. They both have spectacular decorations, a lot of functions, and sufficient area for travellers and cargo. The Mercedes has lesser maintenance care, and the X7 does not have a trim to take on the new-for-2022 Maybach GLS 600.
