The students were from Omole Primary School and Babs Fafunwa’s Secondary School, according to reports. Three of the same parents’ children were among those suspected of being killed.
Students from adjacent secondary schools responded by blocking the road and pursuing the trailer all the way to Ogba, where the driver was apprehended and the trailer was allegedly set ablaze.
While the exact reason for the tragedy is unknown, Eons Intelligence, a provider of emergency alerts, stated that “reports indicate that activities of Road safety & VIO led to an articulated vehicle losing control, killing several schoolchildren, injured others in Ojodu Berger Lagos, axis.”
A mass of people has taken over the road leading to the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in protest at the deaths of students, according to video footage from the area.
Eons Intelligence warns that the ”area is volatile with personnel from RRS using tear gas to disperse people. Avoid the area.”
According to reports, several students attacked and smashed VIO office trucks and vehicles in the neighbourhood.
