Who Is Teni?
Teniola Apata is popularly known as Teni which is her stage name. She is also graciously called Teni the entertainer or Teni Makanaki. Music seems to run in her family bloodline, as she is the sister to popular solo artist Niniola, who participated in the 6th season of Project Fame West Africa held in 2013.
Teniola is not only a singer, she is also a rapper, drummer and songwriter. In most of her videos, you are likely to see Teni holding the drumsticks or fiddling with a guitar. Before she became widely known among Nigerians, Teni has always been building her career in music. Her personal social media page on Instagram was her platform where she regularly releases various entertaining freestyles.
Teni Early Life And Education
Teniola’s mother hails from Ondo. She lost her dad, who is a retired Nigerian Brigadier to the cold hands of death at a young age. Teni’s father, General S. O. Apata, was assassinated in front of his family on January 8, 1995. Such a tragic experience! One of his legacies is Apata Memorial High School, a military-style private boarding school in Lagos, Nigeria.
Teniola, who was born on December 23, 1993, started her foray into music at the early age of two. Little wonder, she is the star she is today. Having attended the Apata Memorial High School, Teni proceeded to get a degree in Business Administration from the American InterContinental University. While Teni would have started doing more in the music industry at a much younger age, she was restrained by her mother who made her promise to complete her education. On the day of her graduation, having endured much to complete her studies, Teni got the inspiration to write one of her songs ‘Uyo Meyo’ meaning ‘when others win and you celebrate with them, your own too will come.’
