On Tuesday, 31st of May, a 51-year old man, John Agbetonzo, pleaded guilty to stealing a car and was later sent to prison to await trial on the orders of a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The man, John Agbetonzo of No 25, Animashaun St., Ijeshatedo, Surulere Lagos, pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Following the statement of the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Courage Ekhueorohan told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 20, at No 2, Ososanya Close, Off Ilamoye St., Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos.

The Police Prosecutor also added that the defendant and one other person, who posed as an automobile salesperson, converted to their personal use the money realized from selling a Honda Accord, property of Adegoke Adeshina.
He highlighted that Adeshina, the complainant, reported the matter at the station when Agbetonzo kept giving excuses for not returning his car.
The offences, Ekhueorohan said, violated sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs M. I. Dan-Oni ordered that Agbetonzo be kept in Ikoyi Prisons, until June 9, for facts and sentence.
