He said that the Hummer Bus driver lost control and hit 11 people who were taking cover under a tree near a car wash.
“The one accident happened at Udubo, along the Hadeja-Potiskum route in Gamawa Local Council of Bauchi State. It involved a commercial Toyota Hummer bus that was ash-coloured and had the registration number JMA 59XA.”
The accident happened because the car was too full, the driver was going too fast, which caused a tire to blow, and the driver lost control. The driver hit some people who were taking shelter from the hot weather under a tree. Some of them were killed this way.
“Men from the Nigeria Police Force said that 24 people were in the bus and that the other 11 were hiding out under the tree near the car wash.”
As soon as we heard about it, our men rushed to the scene to help and took the victims to the Federal Medical Centre in Azare to be treated and checked out.
“There at the hospital, a doctor confirmed that 25 people had died: nine adults, eleven adults, two boys, three girls, and two boys and three girls. “Ten others got bruises of different sizes,” he said.
The head of the FRSC said that their bodies had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Azare, where they would be kept until they could be buried. In the meantime, the people who were hurt are being treated.
