With the death of the FWD versions, the engines remain unchanged. The base engine produces 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque (252NM), while the 2.5L Turbo produces 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque (434NM). Mazda will make its i-Activ AWD system standard on every CX model sold in the United States in 2022, including the CX-30, CX-5, and CX-9. The CX-5 also receives new wheels and trim levels for 2022, with the 2.5 Turbo replacing the Grand Touring Reserve and a new Turbo Signature trim with Nappa leather, genuine wood, and other features. A new wireless charger, a new 10.25-inch infotainment screen, updated driver safety systems, and increased ride comfort are all available on the inside.
