The 2021 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross to roll in with the same looks it’s had since its arrival in 2018. This is one area where the Eclipse Cross excels, as its design is relatively unique, sharp, and sporty with its forward-leaning rear hatch, bold nose, wraparound headlights, and distinct character lines. Up close, though, the chrome trim looks cheap and the rear-window crossbar makes the backside look odd.

In the front, the revamped 2021 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross was presented with headlights that are more narrow and a brand new grille that shows off three bars rather than just two. In the back are more significant changes, the render artist did away with the split rear window design and spoiler that is found on the current model in favor of a design that is more fresh and classic and also expected to enhance rear visibility.

Moreover, it is expected that new hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions will join forces with other models in the Eclipse Cross lineup while the 2021 model’s 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline engine should follow suit. This unit generates 152 horsepower with 184 lb-ft of torque and is also allied with a continuously variable automatic transmission in this year’s model. An official launching date has not yet been announced, but it is expected that the enhanced Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be unveiled by the end of 2020.

2021 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Exterior
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross falls short in a lot of categories compared to a lot of its rivals, but when it comes to aesthetic design, the SUV holds its own. It’s hard to make out all the chrome trim in the front, but the large ones that trace the area of the fog lamps seem to still be in place. Speaking of traces, the front bumper also looks similar to the one on the model that’s currently on sale.
Visually, the crossover wears Mitsubishi’s corporate look really well. The heavy camouflage on the test vehicle doesn’t reveal the extent of the redesign, but we can at least see that the headlights are slightly thinner compared to the ones on the current Eclipse Cross. We’ve seen other Mitsubishi models adopt this look the new L200 pickup, for example so it’s not surprising to see Mitsubishi give one of its breadwinners a similar treatment.
2021 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Price
Following the possible price increase of the base ES trim, don’t be surprised if the Mitsubishi now asks around ₦10 million to ₦12.5 million for the Eclipse Cross LE and around ₦11 million to ₦13 million for the SE trim.
2021 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Release date
Mitsubishi hasn’t announced an official release date for the 2021 Eclipse Cross yet, but based on previous years’ releases, we expect to see it from November 2020.
Meanwhile, we can see that the taillights have been reworked with new elements that are a bit horizontal and stretch onto the trunk lid. The rear bumper has also been redeveloped with a more angular shape, while the rear spoiler has been edited to look more pronounced.
