The Honda Accord is in its tenth generation and has been produced since 1976. Since 1982, the Toyota Camry has been in production and is currently in its eighth iteration. Both are market leaders in Nigeria’s mid-size sedan industry.

It’s noteworthy to notice that there seems to be a global transition from sedans to SUVs, and many corporations have already begun to make this change. Since practically every car on the road is a sedan or whatever, it is not surprising. However, it appears that Toyota and Honda have managed to maintain their market dominance in the sedan segment, giving devoted customers all around the world something to look forward to.

Although there are minor changes between the two, the two cars both have a trendier and more athletic sports version that provides the car and its handling on the road with a distinct sensation. Once more, there are big disparities between the two brands’ trim levels.

The design of the 2019 Toyota Camry has an aggressive vibe to it. When you look closely at the XSE, it appears as though the sedan is trying to intimidate other classes. The automobile has a ferocious, powerful appearance thanks to the larger grille and lower mesh. The quad exhausts at the back are really outstanding, and the false vents produce a beautiful look that gives the impression that the car is built for performance.

The exterior of the 2019 Honda Accord looks to be somewhere between aggressive and plain cool, and it worked out pretty nicely. Four LED lights make everything in the base LX model seem pretty great. The design is incredibly elegant and pretty striking. The lower portion and the grille are distinguished in a really interesting way. Additionally, there is a radar up front and side cameras. The fact that Honda separated the hood from the front of the automobile is one of the nicest exterior aspects.

2019 Toyota Camry vs. 2019 Honda Accord: Engine

The Toyota Camry’s standard 4-cylinder engine will remain in the 2019 model. The majority of other cars in this category now feature turbocharged engines. A 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine with 203 horsepower is standard across all grades. An optional V6 2.5-litre engine with 301 horsepower is available on the XSE and XLE variants. They are all connected to an automatic transmission with eight speeds. The engine generates a lot of power when it is connected to a reliable transmission system.

The 2019 Honda Accord has switched to a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that generates 192 horsepower. All trim levels—aside from the tour—come standard with this engine. For the Sport, EX-L, and Touring versions, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 252 horsepower is offered. It is paired with a conventional 10-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is then connected to a continuously variable automatic gearbox in the base model.

2019 Toyota Camry vs. 2019 Honda Accord: Driving

The Toyota Camry handles the road effectively. It has a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 7.8 seconds. Additionally, it navigates bends and bumps with little interruption to its steadiness. Although the Sport trim’s steering is heavier than usual, the handling is still excellent. However, it creates a lot of noise when driving, which is audible from the cabin.

On the road, the Honda Accord performs admirably. It runs on CVT, which eliminates the need for gear changes and smooths out stopping and starting. It accelerates to 60 miles per hour in 8 seconds, and its brakes are also fairly effective.

The Toyota Camry’s cabin is passable. The number of seats varies based on the trim level, and the cabin is roomy. Additionally, getting in and out of the automobile is not problematic; there is enough legroom, so anyone six feet tall would not experience any issues. In the front, visibility is equally excellent.

The inside of the Honda Accord is exquisitely designed. The car is simple to get in and out of. Additionally, the cabin is roomy, and the view from the driver’s position is excellent. There is a 7-inch tablet screen as well. Six-footers wouldn’t bump up against the car’s ceiling since the back seats are slightly slanted to support the groom better.

2019 Toyota Camry vs. 2019 Honda Accord: Price

The Toyota Camry and Accord are around the same price. The base trims both cost N8,600,000. So no matter which car you chose, the price usually remains the same, but both come with different features despite the trim.

Conclusion

The tiniest of separations is what it eventually comes down to, and picking one may be as simple as asking oneself this question. Do you prefer the Accord’s technology and driving advantages over the Camry’s comfort and usability advantages? So, which is better?
