One of the most popular cars found on Nigerian roads is the 2003 Toyota Camry, dubbed Big Daddy. It appears the name ‘Camry’ isn’t a misfit as the name has expressed itself as being the best-selling car in American and one of the commonest in  Nigeria. The name ‘Camry’ itself means Crown, and indeed, it is widely loved by its users. There are more exciting things to unravel about this car which has demonstrated quality, reliability, and durability. First, let’s start with its trims and standard features.

2003 Toyota Camry Trims And Standard Features

Like most other Toyota cars, the 2003 Camry comes in different trim levels: the LE, the XLE and the SE model, which all come in sedan styling. Each of these trims comes with two choices of engines, either a four-cylinder or a V6.

2003 Toyota Camry LE

Features

  • 2.4L I-4 Engine
  • 5-spd man w/OD Transmission
  • 157 @ 5,600 rpm Horsepower
  • 162 @ 4,000 rpm Torque
  • Front-wheel Drive type
  • 15″ steel Wheels
  • Front air conditioning, manual
  • AM/FM stereo, seek-scan Radio
  • Keyfob (all doors) Remote keyless entry
  • Cloth Seat trim
  • Driver Lumbar support

2003 Toyota Camry  SE

SE has a sporty exterior amongst all the trims. In addition to the features found in the LE:

  • 1st row regular express open/close sliding and tilting glass Sunroof
  • 16″ steel Wheels
  • Front Fog/driving lights
  • Premium cloth Seat trim

2003 Toyota Camry XLE

XLE is the ‘toughest of all the trims. The styling is more attractive, it has more features that make it the ‘elder brother’ of the other trims. In addition to the features found in SE and LE, the XLE has the following:

  • 2.4L I-4 Engine
  • 4-spd auto Transmission
  • 157 @ 5,600 rpm Horsepower
  • 162 @ 4,000 rpm Torque
  • 16″ steel Wheels
  • Front air conditioning, automatic
  • Front Fog/driving lights
  • Heated mirrors

2003 Toyota Camry Interior

The striking thing about the interior of the 2003 Camry is the spacious interior. Enough headroom and legroom on both the driver’s side and the passenger side. A delighted user gives this review on the interior“ Interior features that are great for this model year include heated seats, 6-way adjustable seats, CD and cassette, cruise control, daytime running lights, large trunk with split/fold rear seating and the best feature: plenty of storage options.”

Added impressive features to the interior includes heated seats that are adjustable (high heat or low heat, back and/or seat), dual climate control and daytime running lights with automatic dashboard illumination at night.

2003 Toyota Camry Exterior

Looking from afar, the 2003 Camry looks so much like the former model, but a closer look shows you the difference. New fascinating features for the 2003 model include the taillights, the front bumper, the grille, the rear deck and the wheels. It also comes with heated side mirrors, fog lights, Halogen headlamps and a tinted glass sunroof.

The pleasantly sculpted appearance, pronounced wheel arches, distinct dual crease line in the hood all delicately contribute to making the Camry exterior more stunning and the grille more elegant.

2003 Toyota Camry Engine And Performance

Toyota has consistently maintained the habit of producing cars with excellent performance, the Camry is no different. There are two available engine options for the 2003 Camry; either a V6 or a four-cylinder engine. The Camry’s four-cylinder engine is a 2.4-litre, 16-valve twin-overhead-cam unit rated 157 horsepower at 5600 rpm, and 162 pounds-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. The 3.0-litre V6 engine, on the other hand, generates a maximum of 192 horsepower at 5,800 rpm. Most trims come standard with an automatic transmission.

2003 Toyota Camry Fuel Economy

The fuel economy of the Camry is good enough. The LE trim offers a fuel economy rating of 23 mpg city and 33 mpg for highway travel using its 5-speed manual transmission.  V6 XLE model delivers a slightly lower fuel economy rating, settling at 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway travel.

2003 Toyota Camry Price

The price of the 2003 Camry is relatively lower compared to that of its rivals Ford Taurus, Honda Accord, among many others. Price variations are a result of trim level, optional features added, engine, car importation duty to  Nigeria amongst others. Below is the price range for Toyota Camry cars.
