Cassper Nyovest Early Life And Education
His real name is Refiloe Maele Phoolo, but he is fondly called Cassper Nyovest by fans. Born on 16th December 1990, Cassper Nyovest was born to Mizuki Phoolo and Letsebela Phoolo in Mafikeng, South Africa. Nyovest has a sister Tsholofelo Phoolo, and his late brother, Khotso Phoolo who passed on in 2003.
Growing up, Cassper Nyovest attended Sol Plaatje Secondary school where he played various sports. Making a hard decision to follow his dream, Cassper Nyovest dropped out of school when he was 16. He told his parents he would rather chase his dreams which he believes will work out, rather than play it safe and regret it all his life.
Cassper Nyovest Music Career
He has started rapping since the tender age of 12. Dropping out from school, Cassper Nyovest took the bull by the horn and pursued his dreams. He signed with Motswako Record label- impact sounds when he was 17 years old. However, the partnership didn’t last long because he didn’t have an album released after two years. Cassper chose to part ways with the record label and became an independent artist.
Cassper decided to create his own record label. But before this, he was found by late rapper Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP) while performing. HHP featured Nyovest on his song “Wamo Tseba Mtho” and this was how he began to gain both local and international recognition.
In 2003, Cassper Nyovest released his debut single, “Gusheshe”, featuring Okmalumkoolkat. The following year, he launched his own record label named Family Tree Records and released his second single, “Doc Shebeleza” that same year.
On 18 July 2014, Cassper released his debut album Tsholofelo named after his sister. This album brought him the game and numerous awards and nominations. Riding on the success of Tsholofelo, he released a new version of the album in 2015 and featured prominent artists like Casey Veggies, DJ Drama, Wizkid and Anatii.
He is the organizer of the popular concert called Fill Up The Dome which he started in 2015 with thousands of people in attendance.
